The abuse of and addiction to opioids such as heroin, morphine, and prescription pain relievers is a critical issue that affects millions of people worldwide. The consequences of which have been devastating and are on the rise. For our series finale of “Why I Vote,” we sat down with JoJo who tells a personal story about her father who suffered from, and eventually lost his battle, with drug addiction.
In the emotional clip, she discusses why she feels the need for programs such as the Gloucester Police Department’s, “Angel Program,” are imperative to ensuring addicts get the immediate treatment they need to recover. She says, “I really believe you can wake up and change your life if you have the right resources, and if you believe.”
